| Description: | Responsible for animal care handling, performing rodent surgical procedures and assisting in various types of studies of drug pharmacology, including pharmacokinetics and behavior of addictive drugs. |
| Duties: | Other activities include conduct and/or direct routine and complex research projects in a laboratory. Assist in designing special apparatus and equipment needed for research projects. Assist in drafting proposals to procure research funding. May assist in communicating research findings to scientific community. May orient, train or teach, and give work direction to less experienced staff. |
| Qualifications: | Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be a Bachelor's degree with a major in a science-related field. Experience in rodent handling and care is required. Preference given to experience in rodent behavioral procedures. Experience with rodent surgical procedures preferred.
Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills and have proven organizational and documentation skills. Must possess a relevant science background and the ability to utilize an applied and investigatory foundation in natural science and evaluate given tasks. Ability to adhere to institutional safety protocols, established guidelines of laboratory policy and procedure, apply scientific methods, theories, and techniques. |
