|Description:||Provides evident-based Safer Sex program to sexually active youth. Conducts program outreach via classroom and community presentations. Collects program implementation data. |
|Duties:||Customizes program content of each session to interests and risk level of each participant.|
Discusses consequences of unprotected sex, methods of pregnancy prevention and Sexually
Transmitted Diseases (STDís), abstinence, and condom use.
Schedules participants in for three (3) follow-up booster sessions.
Makes referrals based on participant needs.
Participates in health fairs and other appropriate activities.
|Qualifications:||Any combination of equivalent education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be a bachelorís degree in public health, social work, nursing, sociology, human services, psychology or related field; and one (1) year professional experience providing related services to adolescents, or a Masters degree in one of the above fields.|
Requires interaction with diverse population. Must have good oral and written skills, and effective presentation skills. Must have good listening and problem solving skills. Must have knowledge of theory, principles, practices and techniques of health education and adolescent sex education; community resources available to clients; and record and report preparation. Ability to work independently and collaboratively on cross-functional and diverse internal and external teams on teen pregnancy prevention issues. Must have the ability to perform health and risk assessments; participate in community education programs; plan and develop appropriate related services; utilize community resources in rehabilitation planning; and prepare and maintain records and reports. Displays high standards with respect to attendance and punctuality and confidentiality.
